The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit is one of Canada’s largest incentive programs and awards over $3B annually to Canadian businesses. This program has evolved substantially since the 2011 Jenkins Report and the 2016 federal budget. In 2016, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) released new enforceable SR&ED guidelines affecting claims and audits in the software and technology sector.
Join this discussion with Gerry Fung, Professional Engineer (Computer Engineering), Certified Public Accountant and angel investor who has provided SR&ED assistance to SME technology companies in his portfolio for the past 18 years. Gerry will cover following topics:
- Eligible SR&ED activities in the information and communications technology space.
- SR&ED compliance and contemporaneous audit trail requirements.
- Proper allocation bases for SR&ED expenditures.
- Calculation of government funding overlap for SR&ED claims.
